What are you
looking for in a trainer?
Someone who will care for your horses as
her own?
Someone who will focus on the whole
process of developing you and your horse together?
Someone who can relate to the roadblocks you hit
in your training and can find multiple ways around those roadblocks to hit that
break-through?
If that's what you're looking for, then
you'll find these qualities and more in Pam Wangenheim. I recently moved
to California
and accidentally tripped into the best riding experience of my life (and that's
a lot more years of training than I like to believe!).
My experience with Majestic Equestrian started with a visit to the most
tranquil and beautiful setting for a stable that I've ever seen. Nestled
back in the hills off Grimes
Canyon Road, the horse's open stalls have views of
the orange & lemon orchards, palm trees and cypress trees. The rings
are pristine. I don't have a horse of my own, but Pam allowed me to ride
a few of her horses. They are school-masters that have taken me to a
level of riding that I never thought I would attain. The training isn't
just about the technical movements, but also about getting into the horse's
thoughts. What am I doing to block the horse's flow into the
movement? Is his head in the ring or wandering around in the hills?
How can I work with him instead of just going along for the ride and hoping the
movements happen. Whenever we'd hit a roadblock, Pam would find different
ways around the problem until she could find a solution that would work for
both the horse and me. The focus isn't on the end result, but on the
process. Once you've got the process down, the results will
come!
While an excellent trainer (DASC trainer of the year in
2004, Junior Trainer of the Year in 2004-2005, plus being the trainer for
juniors who have taken both champion and reserve champion over the last several
years in a row) and a leading rider (she took her horse to 9th in the nation),
Pam's main focus is on the horses themselves. Majestic Acres was built
with them in mind. 12x16 open box stalls with views of the hills and
orchards, automatic watering plus a bucket of water for those Warmbloods
who just love to dunk their hay, feedings 3 times per day with supplements
tailored to each horse's health & development programme and 20
acres of trails to roam. Pam lives on-site to watch
over the horses
day and night. She has several horses boarding with her that
she brought back and developed to working levels after their owners were
told to put them down. She and Derek tuck the horses in at night with
day-sheets, mid and/or winter blankets - many other stables will charge extra
for this. Derek goes down to the barn in the middle of the night to
ensure that the horses still have enough water. They groom the horses and
lunge them before the lessons so your horse is warmed up and ready for you when
you arrive. I have been training with Pam for just over a year now and am
still discovering that horses I though she owned actually belong to someone
else.
If you're looking
for a patient trainer focused on both you and your horse, a trainer who will
care for your horse as her own - Pam is your trainer.

Pam Wangenheim is irreplaceable. That one
sentence describes everything about her. I had a very bad accident on a
horse and was unable to ride for a few years. When I decided I wanted to ride
again, we interviewed quite a few trainers and finally decided to go with Pam
as she was just simply outstanding in every aspect of her business. She first
and foremost found me an incredible horse who fits me perfectly and began to
teach both me and my horse the art of dressage. She has a great talent to
assess both the rider and the horse and determine what they both need. I am
very happy to say he is now a 4th level horse and has been winning
his way up the charts; all that is due to
Pam.
To further add to her credit, my horse
became blind in one eye and yet this made no difference to her as she has
simply made adjustments to accommodate his condition. To further complicate things, a few years ago I became quite
ill. During my rough period I was not able to come out to the barn at all, yet
I knew I didn't have to worry about my horses at all as she puts the horses
first and takes care of them in every aspect. Once I was a bit better, she once
again taught me how to ride my still wonderful horse and I am happy to say we
are now showing. I still have my rough days, however, during these periods I
never need worry about my horses as I know my horses will be better than fine
in her care. And to add to her talents, when I am at her barn during a rough
day, she takes on the task of caring for me as
well.
I am still continually astounded as to her level of expertise and
commitment. The horses have the best of care as her stalls are very roomy,
something I find my horses must have as they are Friesians. They have soft
bedding, are given the best of food and treatment, and are pampered in every
way. Her method is flawless. Pam Wangenheim is both a
wonderful trainer, and a loving, devoted person; to both her horses and
everyone around her. I now have two horses with her and I will never leave her
and neither will my horses. I am sure everyone around her has had a
similar experience with her and feels the same way. We have
found something truly immaculate in her care and that is near impossible to
find. And the words I find myself thinking all the time is how lucky I
am.

Pam Wangenheim has integrity, is trustworthy and proves it
with the successes she has in her barn. I am an absentee owner, due to a
move out of the area. I have yet to find a trainer who has the level of
professionalism, service, and value that Pam offers. There simply does not
seem to be another trainer like her. She manages an outstanding team of
support, provides all of the horses in her barn with a high level of
nutrition, exercise and turn-outs. She is a sensitive instructor who has a
unique ability to bring out the best in her students, with positive
encouragement. I've interviewed a dozen or more trainers in my area and
even worked with one for about 18 months. When I realized that my
horse was not getting the training and care that was promised, I brought my
horse back to Pam. Since then, he has completed a successful year of
showing and is going on to the next level. Leaving Pam was the hardest
part of moving.... she's irreplaceable!

Pam Wangenheim of Majestic Equestrians is a truly gifted
trainer. She goes so far beyond just being a fabulous rider and trainer. Her
total care program has performed miracles for my Dutch Warm Blood mare. I
brought my crippled horse to her 5 years ago. A group of vets told us to
"put her down" and that "her career was over." Because
of Pam's studies in veterinary medicine and the constant care she gives each
horse, physically, emotionally and nutritionally, I watched my once magnificent
partner become whole again. To go into all that Pam did to make this
happen would take at least a chapter in a book. All I need to say is that my
restored magnificent mare currently is working at I-1 and has all ready shown,
scoring 66% and above.
In addition, I am ten times the rider that I was
when I began training with Pam. She has such a knack for knowing what each
of her students needs to fulfill his or her potential. And even more than
that, while my mare was being rehabilitated, Pam found the perfect dressage
partner for me. She has the rare ability to pair the right horse for each of
her students. She can teach any horse, from Warmbloods to Friesians and
anything in-between. She's one of the few trainers that knows how to develop
Friesians into dressage competitors and has 7 in her barn today!
On top of it all, she is such a bargain! Unlike other trainers
who add shavings, blanketing, feeding lunches and meds, lunging, hand
walking, tackups, and turnouts on top of their fees, her services are
all-inclusive for one price that's lower than the rest! There are no hidden
gotchas with Pam. I have never met another trainer who works so hard and cares
so much for every individual student and horse. I couldn't imagine training
with anyone else, and, as long as she is available, never
will!
